January Sun

The weather has been lovely here lately. I know all of you who live in the snow probably don't want to hear it. ;) I spent Sunday morning having brunch on the outside deck of a waterfront restaurant with some friends. Then I sat in the park crocheting for 1.5 hours. Yesterday I went for a fantastic 2 hour walk through some nearby hill side neighborhoods, complete with views and hidden staircases.
While I take advantage of warm sunny weather whenever I can, as San Francisco doesn't really get that much of it. I am somewhat concerned about it happening in the middle of January. This time of year it is supposed to be gray, cold and rainy. The fact that it is not raises the ugly specter of an upcoming drought in the summer, with water rationing and everything.
So, while I greatly enjoyed the sun this past weekend a part of me is wishing for a downpour.

I hope all of you out there had a great weekend, whatever the weather was like!

Resolutions

In my last post I mentioned some crochet related New Year's resolutions. I actually have a number of them and I thought a good way to keep myself accountable for them would be to list them out here.

So here goes:

1) Finish the blanket I told my husband I would make and started in fall of 2007. I have decided to make 4 squares a week in order to make that happen (only 101 left to go!). If I keep on schedule I should finish sometime this summer. (I know, the perfect time for a blanket, right?)

2) Make my first adult sized garment. I have chosen the Sweet Tea from Everyday Crochet by Doris Chan. I even already have the yarn. I figure it will make a good starter project as it has no seams or sleeves.

3) Clear my list of personal projects before taking on any more (unless it is a small gift for someone). I have completely run out of storage space for my yarn and really need to do something about it.

4) Submit more projects for publication. I did send in one submission in last year and I want to expand my attempts at being a professional crochet designer. I hope to at least keep myself in yarn money if nothing else. :)

Do you have any crochet/craft resolutions for this year? I would love to hear about them.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to my blog! I have been thinking about blogging for awhile now and I decided to make trying it out one of my New Years resolutions.
I mainly hope to use this blog to continue my exploration of crochet and interacting with a community of crafty people. Though a little of my life and work may seep in occasionally.
Just to give you a little bit of an idea about me: I have been crocheting since about 2000 and am self taught. I started out with hats and have since branched out into scarves, fingerless gloves and other small items. Another one of my New Years resolutions is to try out adult sized garments. I am also an aspiring designer and hope to have some of my work published in magazines this year.

Okay, that's all for now!

I hope you all have a great 2009!
